Although this article is pulled from Entrepreneur magazine, being a leader doesn’t mean you have to build your own company. This article gives 22 principles a leader or head of a business should have in order to be successful in the workplace and gain followers in a company. Principles anywhere from innovation to generosity are listed in this article, as well as quotes from experienced leaders around the world.
Potential Quotes:
(Are there any significant quotes you can use or paraphrase from this source?)
This article is compiled together by quotes so the content is loaded with insight from entrepreneurs. Some quotes that really stuck out to me personally are listed below…
“I’ve never bought into the concept of ‘wearing the mask.’ As a leader, the only way I know how to engender trust and buy-in from my team and with my colleagues is to be 100 percent authentically me—open, sometimes flawed, but always passionate about our work. It has allowed me the freedom to be fully present and consistent. They know what they’re getting at all times. No surprises.”
“You must love what you do. In order to be truly successful at something, you must obsess over it and let it consume you. No matter how successful your business might become, you are never satisfied and constantly push to do something bigger, better and greater. You lead by example not because you feel like it’s what you should do, but because it is your way of life.”
“It takes real leadership to find the strengths within each person on your team and then be willing to look outside to plug the gaps. It’s best to believe that your team alone does not have all the answers— because if you believe that, it usually means you’re not asking all the right questions.”
Assessment:
(Analyze and explain why this source is credible)
This source is very valuable for my project in order to stray from actual studies on leadership, but rather insight and putting that into action from these quotes by many intelligent and professional business men and women. These sources are pulled from anyone from CEO’s of large, thriving companies, to owners and founders of corporations all across the world. Although magazines can lean towards being biased, these quotes and ways of motivating leaders come from experienced entrepreneurs who know what it’s like to go through the rough patches of trying to build something and have others be willing to follow.

Bornstein, Adam And Jordan. "22 Qualities That Make a Great Leader." Entrepreneur. N.p., 28 Oct. 2016. Web. 29 Jan. 2017
Many parts of this article, if not all of it, are crucial to my final project and provide many exceptional and well processed information to give insight on some of the underlying meanings of what leadership looks like. This excerpt from Entrepreneur magazine focuses on 22 main ideas of leadership, pulled straight from ideas coming from CEOs of large corporations, founders of organizations, and even leadership experts. As many articles bring about the surface level information of leadership, this piece brings out qualities that are needed that sometimes are hard to achieve, but are crucial in the business world or in a roll of influence. Anyone from a hungry entrepreneur to a high schooler looking towards their future, these ideas can push anyone to be their best. Many themes such as determination, flexibility, and even open-mindedness are present in this article and carry just as much weight as all the other main focuses. “One of the biggest myths is that good business leaders are great visionaries with dogged determination to stick to their goals no matter what. It’s nonsense. The truth is, leaders need to keep an open mind while being flexible, and adjust if necessary. When in the startup phase of a company, planning is highly overrated and goals are not static. Your commitment should be to invest, develop and maintain great relationships.” (Daymond John, CEO, Shark Branding and FUBU, Entrepreneur Magazine)
As well as this one, many quotes can be pulled from this article in order to form a better understanding of the final capstone project. With many different ideas being placed into one, quotes such as ,“My main goal has always been to offer the best of myself. We all grow—as a collective whole—when I’m able to build up others and help them grow as individuals.” (Perilli Christopher, CEO, Pixel Mobb, Entrepreneur Magazine) can represent what leadership means as a whole… building a firm foundation in one self to make others better and increase their potential.
This magazine not only has valuable information, but is one of some few that is credible to viewers, pulling most of it’s stories, articles, and letter heads from the most successful business owners and leaders all around the globe. Entrepreneur is not only distributed in the U.S., but is famous in places such as China, India, and the Middle East for it’s outstanding reviews and content. The article I pulled from this magazine is also very up to date as it was published in October of 2016, making the news fresh and relatable to people pursuing leadership roles. Not only will this source help me indicate to others how to be a person of influence, but I am also learning so much for myself. These 22 small but crucial ideas are some I would have never thought of taking into consideration when trying to become the best leader I can be. We need more leaders in the world, ready to tackle hard jobs, diversity, and serving over large groups of eager individuals. By adding this piece, I will have another valuable source to add to my research, bettering my project and my passion for leadership.
