(Describe ALL info. that might be important for your paper. Explain to the reader and/or summarize what might be found in this source)
In the beginning of the journal, the author has broken down leadership into three key theories that certain people may follow in order to reach their crowd… business leadership, servant leadership, and transformational leadership. As these three are broken down and explained, the main idea for my project is that I want all of them to be combined in one. The author talks about how a person’s individual work practices can lead them to being the best leader they can possibly be. And as any person may become a leader, possessing certain ideals and traits can lead someone to one of these “key theories”. For example, a servant leader tends to be more of a dreamer and has a greater sense of awareness for what is occurring around them, while transformational leaders lean towards their audiences ideas and share things effectively so their employees grasp concepts.
So, as my audience may be to an adult or ever another high schooler, these ideas and themes may spark an interest of what kind of leader the person aspires to be. Maybe all three. But tuning into the core values behind the three theories may interest someone to rise up and change their future and the futures of the people around them.
Potential Quotes:
(Are there any significant quotes you can use or paraphrase from this source?)
“Servant-leaders focus on the needs of their employees, and business leaders focus on outcomes and quality methodologies. Finally, transformational leaders structure all employees' work towards the mission, establish open communication systems within the institution, and then focus their work on strengthening and sustaining their institutions for the future.” (Hawkins, Cheryl, Community College Enterprise)
“Additionally, leaders should develop a regimen of personal work habits: for example, time utilization, communication practices, and work delegation. Drucker feels these habits will positively influence the leaders' effectiveness.” (Hawkins, Cheryl, Community College Enterprise)
“Additional skills noted for servant-leaders are empathy and a sense of awareness for what is occurring around them. In contrast, transformational leaders manage with morals, tenacity, selflessness, and, according to Burns (1978), good political skills (p. 169).”
“On the other hand, transformation leaders require an enhanced awareness to envision their institutions' future and how they can guide their employees into that future.”
“Empowering employees with the responsibility to complete the day-to-day work within an institution is the key element that allows transformational and business leaders to focus on global issues and opportunities for their institution.”
Assessment:
(Analyze and explain why this source is credible)
I pulled this source from Questia which is a recommended location for credible books, journals, and articles. The Community College Enterprise is a peer-reviewed research journal. This serves as a leading resource for researchers and educators worldwide.
Reflection (not the summary):
(How will you potentially use it?)
I will use these three key themes as a guideline for viewers and to help broaden my spectrum of what it means to be a true “leader”. I hope to use this, along with many other articles, to persuade viewers that anyone can possess leadership qualities, but you have to want it. Being a leader in your schools is not only important, but being one in your future career and life in general can change things. By recognizing the steps and examples of being a leader (whether servant, business, or transformational), a person may just become aware of their full potential.

To describe many of the main points, the author has broken down leadership into three key theories that certain people may follow in order to reach their crowd… business leadership, servant leadership, and transformational leadership. As these three are broken down and explained, the author makes a clear vision of what each theory means and how these can be effective in a workplace or company. Not only does the author define the theories and lay them out, but she guides the readers through what it means to be a leader and how actual “leadership” has changed throughout the years leading up to this day and age. An example of the picture she paints for her audience includes, “Additionally, leaders should develop a regimen of personal work habits: for example, time utilization, communication practices, and work delegation.” (Hawkins, Cheryl, Community College Enterprise)
For quotes from the author, I will definitely take quotes from her three theories and compare/contrast them to each other. I think it is very well possible to be all three, but I want these strategies to be placed strategically on my website in order to make a point to MY viewers. “Servant-leaders focus on team work and inspiring those around them. They first and foremost care about the needs of their employees or followers because if everyone is flourishing, so will the institution in which they work (What is servant leadership, 2008, [paragraph] 5)” (Hawkins, Cheryl, Community College Enterprise) I will be able to almost “dumb down” what is means to be a business leader, a servant leader, and a transformational leader by pulling from multiple quotes.
My article is found on www.questiaschool.com, which .com can be heavily biased, but considering this website was recommended to use in extensive research for articles and books, I feel that this article is appropriate and a necessity to my final project. The Community College Enterprise, where the actual article itself is pulled from, is a peer-reviewed research journal. This serves as a leading resource for researchers and educators worldwide, leading me to know this is a credible source.
As I am trying to learn more about what it means to have leadership in a workplace and how to be influential in ways one couldn’t imagine, this article gives me even more of backup to my ideas and why I think it’s so important to take charge in any position you are at.
