(1) How does an individual implement a role of leadership in the workplace and what makes others want to follow? Can anyone be a leader or does it require oneself to be born with those qualities? I would like to understand this question more deeply because of who I want to be in life and what I want others to know about themselves. Seeing my dad own a business, there has always been something inside of me that chases that same thing. Through an internship at a church, seeing the way people lead there is no different than what a new entrepreneur or even employee could do in their field of work. Everyone has an influence.
As the pastor of my church, David Walters, wanted to bring The Vine Church into existence, he had a passion and a vision, but couldn't carry it out without a team running with him. Same goes for my youth pastor, Jorge Alvial... In order for him to create The Vine Youth and put his vision into work, he had to be influential. So how?
(2) Throughout my life, I've always been told I was a leader. On my sports teams, with my friends, and in the classroom. But what did that mean? I've always looked around at the leaders in my life and wondered how they got in such a position and if they even knew how much they meant in my life. I never even thought it was possible to "teach" someone leadership qualities to become someone they wish to be. But through experience, this internship and research, I've come to the conclusion that anyone can be a purposeful leader in all aspects of life... and in the workplace.
(3) Towards the beginning of internship at The Vine, the staff payed for the interns and I to take a strengths finder test. This test indicates your strengths as a human and how to use those for your good. Every few weeks after finding out our strengths, we had a coach come in and explain what each meant and how to be influential to others with these traits.
My five were (in order): positivity, winning others over, adaptability, arranger, and communication.
Those five are key elements in my life that help me function and help me continuous relationships
